Considering it’s Christmas time, it should come as no surprise to anyone that several holiday classics are dominating the charts on various streaming platforms. With that said, the criminally underrated comedy The Night Before is currently the number 3 film on Freevee. According to FlixPatrol, the Seth Rogen holiday movie landed on the streamer on December 16, and it’s been climbing the service’s charts ever since.

Arriving in theaters November 20, 2015, The Night Before served as counterprogramming to films like The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay – Part 2 and Secret in Their Eyes. Even on streaming, the raunchy flick is a far cry from holiday favorites like Home Alone and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Of course, any project that features Seth Rogen as a lead is likely not a movie that’s suitable for the whole family.

In addition to Seth Rogen, The Night Before stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anthony Mackie, Jillian Bell, Lizzy Caplan, Michael Shannon, Tracy Morgan, Miley Cyrus, and James Franco. The movie was helmed by Jonathan Levine from a screenplay he penned alongside Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir. Although it earned a modest $9.8 million in its opening weekend, the holiday flick went on to earn over $52 million globally.

Ethan (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), Isaac (Seth Rogen), and Chris (Anthony Mackie) are the three primary characters in the movie. They’ve been friends since they were children, and for 10 years, their annual Christmas Eve reunion has been a yearly night of debauchery and hilarity. Now that they’re entering adulthood, the tradition is ending, and to make it as memorable as possible, they set out to find the Nutcracka Ball, which is considered to be the Holy Grail of Christmas parties.

The Night Before opened to mixed reviews from both critics and everyday viewers. Seth Rogen and the rest of the cast deliver on the crude humor, but the movie suffered in the story department. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a score of 62% from reviews by 162 reviews. Meanwhile, it sits with a score of 61% from viewers with over 25,000 ratings.

Prior to The Night Before, Seth Rogen and Joseph-Gordon-Levitt collaborated on another underrated movie, 50/50. That feature was also directed by Jonathan Levine, and it earned rave reviews from critics. The dramedy has a remarkable 93% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

In 50/50, Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays Adam, a 27-year-old writer of radio programs, who is diagnosed with a rare form of spinal cancer. With the help of his best friend, Kyle (Seth Rogen), his mother, and a younger therapist at the cancer center, Adam discovers who the most important people are in his life. The movie also stars Anna Kendrick, Bryce Dallas Howard, Anjelica Huston, and Matt Frewer.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen reportedly had such a blast working together on 50/50 that they didn’t hesitate to reunite for The Night Before. Although the movie can be enjoyed any time of the year, it’s certainly one to add to your list of off-the-wall holiday classics best viewed around Christmas. The movie is currently available to stream for free on Freevee.
